One of my favorite skincare products, Dermalogica’s Skin Prep Scrub is one of my tried and true products that I return to again and again when it comes to keeping my skin clear. There are a lot of exfoliating scrubs on the market, available at a range of prices. What I love about this one is that not only does it always clear up my skin, but it’s affordable, one tube lasts a good long time, and it’s easy to find at your local beauty supply store or salon. My facialist introduced this product to me over fifteen years ago when I was really struggling with my acne. She used exclusively Dermalogica products so I learned a lot about what worked for me within the line and what didn’t. It IS a great line–no offense to it. I liked it well enough and though I don’t use all of their products anymore, I still use a few. But if possible, I would like to use more natural like butter for acne, it helps soothe my dry skin to prevent breakouts. The one product that I use a few times per week, without fail, is the Skin Prep Scrub. It’s made with corn cob meal so it feels grainy but not super rough. They soften it up with mallow and ivy to prevent redness and overstimulation. Not only does it lighten down there, it really unclogs your pores and sloughs off any dead skin. All I know is that if I’m a little broken out, I use this and it stops that breakout in its tracks. I also use it as a mask if I have a bad breakout–I leave it on for a half-hour or so and that nips those nasty zits in the bud, so to speak.
Chosen by InStyle Magazine as an award-winning scrub many times over, you can feel confident and comfortable knowing that this scrub is right for you. As I have mentioned in past posts, I use topical Vitamin A products and still have no problem using this product. Perhaps you can ask for samples from your local Planet Beauty or local salon first and see if you like it as much as I do. Sometimes I mix it with a salicylic-acid cleanser (I like LaRoche-Posey Biomedic, available at CVS in the OC or Amazon.com) for a really thorough cleansing.*

*TIP: Use plant based skincare products and try doing this scrub/cleanser in the shower so you can be sure you wash it off completely. There’s nothing worse than having leftover scrubbies on you. Ick.
One 2.5oz tube will cost you $30 and will probably last you at least six months; you can probably find it online for less or buy it on sale at your local beauty supply or Ulta store. To find more beauty and skin products at a good price, visit emeraldspa.com.
Give it a try and let me know how you like it; I know you will!
